Loose Tea List

We have select teas with varying characteristics that, when combined, create a pleasing, well-balanced flavour to our special blends. Our tea is still sourced from the established tea growing countries of India, Africa, Sri Lanka and China and we continue in that spirit of exploration by also working with emerging tea-growing countries such as Indonesia, Vietnam and Zimbabwe.

Ceylon

Ceylon The classic “Ceylon BOP”, or broken orange pekoe, is grown at altitude on the island of Sri Lanka. The orthodox leaf gives a bright, curranty cup with a crisp astringency that is a perfect foil for a slice of lemon.

Scottish Breakfast

This tea is a blend of finest black teas from Assam (India) and Kenya. The Assam provides a rich, malty base which adds depth of colour, whilst the tea from Kenya offers a brisk, bright character which makes the tea refreshing. When the teas are blended together, you have the traditional Scottish Breakfast Blend.

Royal Scottish

This is a blend of two ‘Regal’ large leaf teas from India (Assam) and Sri Lanka (Ceylon). The malty, rich Assam character compliments perfectly the curranty, aromatic Ceylon tea and produces a refreshing cup to soothe and refresh. This tea is blended in Edinburgh, Scotland’s historic capital city and seat of her Kings and Queens.

Jasmine

A light and fragrant Green China tea scented with Jasmine which produces a delicate but soothing cup.

Earl Grey

This tea takes its name from the second Earl Grey, said to have been created in his honour. It is a blend of fine black China teas delicately scented with the oil of Bergamot, a citrus fruit akin to the lime. A very refreshing tea with a hint of sharpness.

Gunpowder

This Chinese green tea is light and delicate but also penetrating. Its yellow green liquor has the advantage of being packed with antioxidants which are seen as being very good for you.

Japanese Cherry

The delicate flavour of green tea balances well with the subtle flavour of Japanese Cherry.

Darjeeling

Darjeeling tea is grown in North India in the foothills of the Himalayas, it is often described as the Champagne of teas, this tea is from the Margaret’s Hope Estate and is a F.T.G.F.O.P.1 grade (Fine Tip Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe). The tea is grown at high altitude and offers a distinctive character with astringency and hints of Almonds. Penetrating yet delicate and refreshing.
